The E30 platform was the basis for the 1981 through 1991 BMW 3 Series entry-level luxury car / compact executive car. It was the successor of the BMW E21 in 1982 and was replaced by the BMW E36 in 1992. BMW continued to produce the cabriolet (convertible) E30 well into 1993. The Touring remained in production until 1994 when the E36 touring replaced it. The M3 cabriolet was never officially offered for sale in North America; it was offered only for the European market.

The famous BMW M3 was first introduced on the E30 platform. A widened version of the E30 front suspension and the drivetrain from the E30 325i were used in the BMW Z1 roadster.

The E30 3-Series was produced in four body styles, a four door saloon, a two door saloon, a five door estate (marketed as the "touring"), and a two door convertible. A Baur cabrio was also available. The 325ix was produced from 1986 to 1991, and featured all-wheel drive. It was available as a two-door (saloon) or a four-door (sedan) and as touring. The BMW M3 utilised a widened and heavily redesigned and restyled variation of the 2 door body style. The M3 shares few parts with other E30 models.

The primary distinctive feature of the BMW E30 models produced for the North American market in 1984-1987 are the elongated front/rear aluminum bumpers. These bumpers are commonly known as "diving boards." In 1988, the anodized aluminum bumpers were shortened by revising the cover/fillers and shortening the shocks. In 1989 the aluminum bumpers were replaced with shorter body-color plastic bumpers.

The cars were powered by a range of inline 4 cylinder (BMW M10 , BMW M40 , & BMW M42) and inline 6 cylinder (BMW M20 and BMW M21) engines, with both petrol and diesel power. Power output for the engines ranges from 140 N·m (100 lb·ft) torque for the 1.8 L (1766 cc) 4 cylinder engine, to 230 N·m (170 lb·ft) torque from the 2.7 L (2693 cc) 6 cylinder petrol engine. The E30 BMW M3 was fitted with a 4 cylinder engine (BMW S14) producing more power, but less torque. 0-60 mph times was around 6.4 seconds, very quick for a car in its time.

Mean Machines at JuruAutocity 26/10/2008

On 26/10/2008, our community was participated in Mean Machines event at Juru Autocity. Mean Machines is an event for motorsport enthutiast and performance show. We are invited to join this event as a special guest. We arrived at this Juru Autocity at 3.00p.m and stay until 5.30p.m.

TT session Queensbay Mall/R&R Lingkaran Luar Highway (gathering) 24/5/2008

On 24/5/2008, 9.00p.m , We have a TT(teh tarik) session at R&R Lingkaran Luar Butterworth Highway. There are about 20 members attend this TT session. All members introduce themselves to each other and share their experiences and information regarding their rides and interest. At 12.00a.m midnight, we convoy to Penang Island and gather at Queensbay Mall parking area where most automotive enthutiast and other car community gathering here. That night was a happening night where some ICE group(in car entertainment) showoff their audio system...

Bimmer Utara, the cult, an alternative, a friendly community group, cool, fun and dedicated ambitious BMW community wishing to share experiences and knowledge amongst others, unity is our goal and to establish a good driving environment communications between all BMW drivers.

Bimmer Utara was established in Penang and it was started by someone who always believed in contributing to each other is the best way of making friends and at the same time sharing their best interest, the BMW. Towards up and down, suffering and happiness, now more than 30 BMW owners has already in Bimmer Utara and pledge to be one of the greatest BMW community and therefore registration as a member into this community is absolutely free!!! No need any fees to join us. Doesn't matter if you drive an old rusted bimmer or the latter models, standard engine or swap to whatever engines, turbo or NA. If you are driving with a boot badge BMW, you're just our friends as we are and its a brotherhood for us.

The meaning ' DIE BIMMERGEMEINSCHAFT AUS DEM NORDEN' is Deutschland language is the bimmer community in nothern region(Malaysia). Its an expression due to our bimmer birth in Germany. Bimmer Utara have members from Perlis, Kedah, Penang and nothern Perak. All of us believe in the freedom of speech therefore we do not practice management committee ruling like others car clubs, so for all members are equally the same level as neutral as all fellow. No chief, no captain, or leader in our community.

Apart from being a member to this community, Bimmer Utara making some merchandise such as stikers and t-shirt. Our next stuff will coming soon. Besides that, all of us as a members of Bimmer Utara can organize their own event and activities likes gathering, convoy, family day or can even sell their own things such as spare parts, cars and whatever they want. In Bimmer Utara, we also welcome members from other region and state also over the worldwide to share information and experiences as BMW owners.

We welcome all comments and suggestions to make this community even better. Bimmer Utara is not just a BMW club but it is a greatest community ever and it's make us proud of our rides.
